Astrid Carlsen

I am particularly fascinated by foraging ecology of diving seabirds and the unique adaptations that lets them utilize harsh marine environments for feeding. My previous work revolve around understanding how temporal effects and variation in environments influence dive behaviour and decision making in European Shags.

As part of my Ph.D. at SLU in Sweden, I currently study foraging behaviour in alcids based on the availability of prey and varying foraging conditions in the Anthropocene, by combining hydroacoustic data of the alcids foraging areas with bird born telemetry (including GPS, GLS and TDR).
